Fire Underwriting, Business Interruption and Risk Survey Workshop – Rwanda

Overview

Fire insurance remains a critical component of property insurance, requiring sound underwriting and accurate risk assessment due to the wide range of hazards involved. As Rwanda continues to experience rapid economic growth through infrastructure expansion, industrial development, and increased commercial activity, fire-related exposures are becoming more significant and complex.

This workshop is designed to enhance participants' knowledge and practical skills in underwriting and rating Fire and Business Interruption Insurance risks. It will also strengthen participants' ability to assess risks, manage property losses effectively, and understand claims and recovery processes.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Explain the underwriting and rating processes for Fire and Business Interruption Insurance.
• Identify risk exposures associated with fire and business interruption policies.
• Apply risk management tools to minimize or prevent losses.
• Analyse the impact of fire losses on business interruption.
• Evaluate and quantify losses and claims payable by insurers and reinsurers.
