REINSURANCE PROGRAM DESIGN AND PRICING

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Reinsurance Program Design and Pricing course is designed to equip trainees with technical knowledge and skills to design effective reinsurance programmes and to understand the pricing mechanisms for proportional and non-proportional reinsurance.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, the participant will be able to:

• Explain the design of various reinsurance programs

• Describe the underwriting process for reinsurance

• Explain the process of arriving at the commissions for the proportional treaties

• Describe the process for calculating premium adjustment rates for different types and layers of non-proportional treaties

• Calculate the various types of reinsurance premiums

• Retentions and deductibles

• Treaty balance

• Probable Maximum Loss (PML)

12th August

• Negotiating reinsurance contracts

• Inward retrocession business

• Exposure to natural and other catastrophe perils

• Placement of reinsurance

13th August

• Basis for pricing of reinsurance

• The rating process of risks

• Pricing of proportional treaties

• Pricing of non-proportional treaties

• Minimum and Deposit Premiums (MINDEPS)

11 AM (EAT) / 10 AM CAT / 9 AM WAT / 8 AM GMT

TARGET AUDIENCE

This training is aimed for reinsurance underwriters and accountants with a minimum of 3 years experience working in the underwriting and accounting departments of (re)insurance companies.

LOGISTICS

The training will be conducted via the ZEP-RE Academy LMS. Participants are required to have a good internet connection and a digital device – preferably a laptop or tablet.

DELIVERY

There shall be a 90-minute presentation by the facilitators followed by a 30-minute Question & Answer session to address any questions, comments, or observations from participants.

CII CPD ACCREDITATION

Delegates participating in the Reinsurance Program Design & Pricing course can claim up to 6 CPD hours towards the CII member CPD scheme.

COST
