ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The Engineering General Underwriting Practice workshop provides a comprehensive exploration of key technical and practical aspects of engineering insurance, with a focus on Construction and Erection All Risks (CAR/EAR) underwriting and related lines. Participants will develop a strong understanding of how to assess, price, and manage engineering risks across different project phases, while appreciating the linkages between various classes of engineering insurance.
The training covers a wide range of topics including CAR underwriting and risk assessment, the application of Defects Liability clauses, and an introduction to Advance Loss of Profit (ALOP) insurance. It further delves into Machinery Breakdown (MB) and Machinery Loss of Profit (MLOP) insurance, Contractors Plant and Machinery (CPM) cover, and explores emerging trends shaping the engineering insurance landscape.
Through interactive discussions, practical case studies, and regional insights, participants will enhance their ability to make informed underwriting and risk management decisions in a dynamic and evolving market environment.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this workshop, the participants will be able to:
i. Explain the key principles and practices of engineering underwriting, with a focus on CAR/EAR policies.
ii. Assess and manage risk exposures in construction, erection, and machinery-related projects.
iii. Apply underwriting judgment to specialized covers such as ALOP, MLOP, and CPM insurance.
iv. Analyse emerging trends and their implications for underwriting, risk control, and portfolio performance.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Underwriters, brokers, claims handlers, loss adjusters, and risk engineers involved in engineering and project insurance.
