INTRODUCTION

The Proficiency in Short-Term Reinsurance Practice and Claims Management Course (PSTRP) is a comprehensive, examinable training program that combines all key reinsurance functions, including underwriting, program design, accounting, reinsurance portfolio placement, and claims management.

It is designed to equip trainees with the technical knowledge and skills required to competently carry out reinsurance underwriting, accounting, and claims tasks.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, the trainee will be able to:

i. Demonstrate an understanding of reinsurance business
ii. Demonstrate an understanding of the process of reinsurance underwriting and claims
iii. Receive, process, and finalize reinsurance underwriting and claims documentation
iv. Design and prepare reinsurance cover notes for various reinsurance transactions
v. Calculate reinsurance-related data within established standards and frameworks

TARGET GROUP

The PSTRP course is intended for:

• Employees of reinsurance and insurance companies
• Insurance regulators
• (Re)insurance brokers
• Insurance agents

Specifically, those deployed in underwriting, claims, or accounting departments.

CII CPD ACCREDITATION

Delegates participating in the PSTRP course can claim CPD hours towards the CII member CPD scheme.

ASSESSMENT & EXAMINATION

The course will be assessed through:

• Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs)
• A Final Exam

These will be administered by the College of Insurance Kenya in conjunction with the ZEP-RE Academy.

• Access study materials
• Sit assessment tests and examinations (administered online)
